Wellbeing

Mia’s interest is in the relationship between people and their outdoor environments and she recognises the positive impact nature has on health and wellbeing. She understands that some outdoor spaces are more restorative then others which implies that beyond the exposure to sun, fresh air and increased opportunities for exercise there are certain spatial arrangements and landscape characteristics that make one space more invigorating than another. Mia firmly believes verdant spaces that offer choice and opportunities for social interaction and creativity are the most restorative and health promoting environments.

Be it a maze or a woodland path for mindful walking, an area for gardening and social interaction, a secluded spot with an outlook over a large open space, a scented flower garden or a tranquil green oasis with running water, these environments are carefully planned to suit clients’ varied needs and to match existing site possibilities and limitations.

Mia offers a personal and bespoke service to meet her clients’ needs. She is here to help.

Forest Lane Well-being Garden

The task was to create a calm outdoor space for an out-patient CAMHS unit at Kingsley Green in Radlett.

The garden was designed to offer choice and to provide opportunities to be creative and engage in social interaction. With a firm belief in the restorative qualities of nature, plants were of great importance to the design.

A meandering figure-of-eight path, cover from the canopies of large mature trees and a carpet of lush green foliage make up the main structure of the garden.

From barren ground the space was transformed into a small green oasis for service users and staff to enjoy.
